Transforming Sprawl into Towns

Challenges and opportunities for completeness and self-sufficiency

5:30pm, Dec. 19, 2018

CU Denver CAP Building (1250 14th St.), Room 470

The Congress for the New Urbanism Colorado (CNU-CO) is pleased to invite you to attend a panel discussion about creating places through sound approaches to urban planning.

On our panel, we have two developers and two community planners that all bring extensive experience to share with us. Developers Kiki Wallace and Jed W. Selby will share their respective experiences developing the Prospect New Town in Longmont and the South Main Neighborhood in Buena Vista. On the community development side, we have Brad Power with Englewood and Tony Chacon with Longmont. They will share the challenges and successes they have found when trying to bring together community support and investments in underutilized parts of the communities they have served.

The panel will start with presentations from our panelists, where they will expound upon the experiences they have had in building meaningful developments and catalyzing new places in their communities. Then we will shift into a discussion among the panelists about the current state of development in terms of retail and community services and the challenges in creating genuine places in new developments.

This event is free and open to the public, light snacks and refreshments will be served.
